It's not an Emmy, but it's a start. On Monday, June 18, the Broadcast Television Journalists Association awarded their Best Drama and Best Comedy Series Critics' Choice Awards to Homeland and Community, respectively. Keep reading for all of the award winners.
These awards mark the first prominent wins for both series -- freshman drama
Homeland hasn't had much of a chance for awards yet, while
Community has been consistently ignored by the fools who hand out such trophies. The voters are not exactly the same for the Emmys and the Critics' Choice Awards, but these wins still can't hurt
Community and
Homeland when the big prizes come along.
Other big winners at the Critics' Choice Awards ceremony were
Breaking Bad,
Parks and Recreation,
Sherlock and
Modern Family, each of which scored two awards.
Of course, no respectable awards bash could be complete without the air of controversy. And of course
Community was willing to provide it. Series creator and recently-fired
Community executive producer Dan Harmon was absent from the show.
Harmon tweeted a brief explanation after the win: "Congrats, Community, and thank you, critics. Sorry I was unable to have been invited!"
Ouch.
Dan Harmon Replaced for Community Season 4.
The
Community folks in attendance didn't exactly forget Dan Harmon though. Star Joel McHale accepted the award while saying, "I want to thank Dan Harmon, who created the greatest show on television."
But all else was well at the Critics' Choice Awards. Check out the full list of winners below!
