'24' Alum Reiko Aylesworth Grabs Role on 'Lost'
The last time many of us saw Reiko Aylesworth on television, she was the victim of a particularly brutal car bomb.  At the beginning of 24's fifth season, everyone who knew about Jack Bauer's faked death was targeted for assassination, and Aylesworth's Michelle Dessler fell victim.  An unfortunate turn of events.  But, now Aylesworth is heading back to a high-profile TV series.  It was announced last night that Reiko has signed on for a four episode run on ABC's Lost.  She will play a professional businesswoman who has an affinity for nature and the outdoors, and who is searching for the right man for her.  How this will play into season 5 of Lost is anybody's guess.

Aylesworth character is supposedly of the “major recurring” variety, possibly meaning that she has an important role to play in the newest season of Lost.  Given her character description, it's safe to say that she will, at first, be living on the mainland.  The whole nature thing makes me feel like she could be a Portland resident.  Portland has a big outdoorsy vibe, and has served as an important location on Lost, especially for Juliet and Ben.  Other than that, I'm not sure if any additional speculation is worthwhile.  This is Lost, after all.

Aylesworth had a recurring spot on ER last season, appearing in seven episodes as Julia DuPree.  I was fairly indifferent to her during her time on 24.  She was fine, and her character definitely had some major arcs, but I wasn't swayed really one way or the other.  She's a Seattle girl, and went to the University of Washington, which endears her to me, if that does anything for you.  There is no word on when in the Lost season Aylesworth will appear, but given this late announcement, it's likely she won't show up until late in the season.
