Lewis Says First Season of 'Life' Will End with a Big Revelation
Since NBC's Life debuted in September, viewers have followed Detective Charlie Crews, a man who was wrongly imprisoned for 12 years, as he attempts to cope with the many changes of modern life and solve the murder which nearly cost him his life.  According to series star Damian Lewis, viewers will be left both satisfied and hungry for more when the show reaches the end of its freshman season.

“There will be a big, satisfying revelation, though that might lead you to somewhere bigger,” Lewis told TV Guide.

Apart from Lewis, Life also stars Sarah Shahi as Detective Dani Reese, Adam Arkin as Ted Earley, Robig Weigert as Lieutenant Karen Davis, Brent Sexton as Bobby Starks and Brooke Langton as Constance Griffiths.

Langton's Constance, Crews' lawyer, is the one who convinced Crews to re-open his case.  She is also the one who has continuously shown support for him and has helped him to adjust to his new life.  However, fans of Life should not expect for the two to become romantically involved anytime soon, not only because Constance is married, but also because Crews himself is unwilling to become a third party.

“His approach to that com¬plicated relationship is very honorable, very noble,” Damian Lewis said.  “He's not a marriage wrecker.  She's his redeeming angel.”

For now, Crews will have to settle for bedding various women, an act that Lewis said he does not condemn.

“I don't judge him for the girls. There are sensual pleasures he was denied for so long,” he said.

While prison may have denied Crews from many of life's pleasures, it did give him the opportunity to learn about the Buddhist principle of Zen.  Crews came across the book The Way of Zen during his one-hour-a-day session at the isolated prison yard, and read it over and over again throughout the course of his imprisonment.  Now outside of prison walls, Crews uses Zen “to control anger and bitterness.”

“He has almost a child¬like enthusiasm for life and an incredible optimism,” Damian Lewis added.
Life airs Wednesday nights at 10/9c on NBC.
