Pixie Acia,
LA Ink's shop manager, was forced to leave work and filming earlier in the month after being hospitalized. According to
Kat Von D's MySpace page, Pixie was diagnosed with a severe case of and infected Tonsilitis. To help her cover her medical costs, Kat quickly put together a fundraiser to help Pixie.
The event was held at Kat's newest tattoo shop, High Voltage. An auction was held and featured prizes such as tattoos from Kat and her crew, autographs, clothing, and personal training sessions. Tickets were $40 per person and drew in a number of supporters from the show as well as friends and family.
The reason for her illness is unknown and her split tongue was ruled out as a reason for the infection. Severe health risks were involved with Pixie's infection such as loss of hearing or inability to breath. Many of her fans posted well wishes on her MySpace page. BuddyTV is happy to report that Pixie has made a full recovery and returned back to work and taping late last week.
New episodes of the show will be running through October 30 with lots of celebrities slated to appear including Jesse Metcalf (
Desperate Housewives), rapper Eve, and Anthrax's Scott Ian. Eric Balfour (
24) and Steve-O (
Jackass) have already made appearances. The show has also been running casting calls looking for tattoo lovers to appear on the show. Fans can check out TLC's official website to find out how they can be a part of the show.
The series debut, earlier in the month, brought TLC its highest ratings of a premiere since 2003. It performed better than recent premieres on the network such as
Big Medicine,
I’ve Got Nothing To Wear,
Hard Shine, and
Diagnosis X. The show airs new episodes on Tuesday nights at 10/9c. TLC’s Pamela Deutsch and Original Media’s Charlie Corwin are the show’s executive producers.
