'LA Ink' Renewed for Another Season
TLC's LA Ink recently finished filming its debut season, and fans will be happy to know that the series has been renewed for another year.  Series star and tattoo artist Kat Von D revealed the good news during her red carpet interview at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

“The show's going really great.  Actually, we just finished filming the first season [and] the second season just got picked up,” Von D told Buzznet.com  “I'm really excited about it and I can't wait to show everybody what LA Ink is all about.”
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

LA Ink is the spin-off of TLC's first tattoo-centered reality series, Miami Ink.  Kat Von D, who appeared on her show's parent series for two seasons, moved back to her hometown of Los Angeles after clashing with shop owner and fellow tattoo artist, Ami James.  She then opened up her own tattoo shop, High Voltage Tattoo, which became the center of activity on LA Ink.

The show differs from its parent series primarily because of its female-dominated work staff.  Out of the five main cast members, four are women: Kat Von D, Hannah Aitchison, Pixie Acia and Kim Saigh.

In interviews, Von D has been very clear on what she wants the show to become for female viewers, saying she hopes LA Ink will serve as an inspiration.

"I don't want little girls to go out there and become tattooists -- if I had a daughter I wouldn't want her to do it," Von D told the Calgary Sun last month.  "It can still be a seedy business.  But, when girls watch my show, I want them to see a showcasing of a strong team of empowered, independent, women."

Now that filming for the show's first season has wrapped up, Kat Von D's tattoo shop is back to its regular store hours.

“NOW, my shop, HIGH VOLTAGE TATTOO/LA INK is… open EVERY DAY ALL DAY!! From noon to midnight!” Von D posted on her official fan club site and MySpace page.  “No more cameras in our faces, and no more closed doors during the day due to our filming schedule the past few months.”
