Marguerite MacIntyre Talks 'Kyle XY'

Marguerite MacIntyreMichigan-born Marguerite MacIntyre plays Nicole Trager, kind-hearted mother of three, Juvenile Detention therapist and hopeless savior of lost lambs, on Kyle XY.  She spoke at length to iF Magazine earlier this month, about various things Kyle XY.

For one thing, MacIntyre discussed the show's unique position as one of only a handful of shows to have successfully completed filming its entire current season, prior to the writers' walkout.

“We did 23 all together starting in February and then ending in October.  So, it depends on how you look at it.  We either did 13 and 10 or 10 and 13, but I think the way it works is the last ten are what is left to air for the season,” the actress told the magazine.

“We're suppose [sic] to go back in March and shoot 10 episodes and see if there is a back 10 pickup, but I think they were hesitant to do a whole 20 pickup due to the insecurity of a pending writers strike,” MacIntyre also mentioned, referring to Kyle XY having already been picked up for another season.

MacIntyre also touched on the show's direction, following some significant upheavals in the storyline after the mid-season finale.

“Well, I would say without giving away too much [that] everything that has happened to Kyle up to this point is so huge and the stakes are so high with Madacore, that this second part of the season will see him having to reconnect to his family and his small world,” MacIntyre said.  “Not just the big world and the events of his past.  All of that washes over him and he starts to deal with what it all means to him in a smaller scale in his everyday life.”

The actress also addressed what it's been like, not only to come back after such momentous twists at the end of this season's first half, but to return with a host of new characters and cast members.

“The only way it really changed was to have Jamie Alexander come in and join as Jessie.  She was great and it was very easy and I finally saw some of the episodes and saw just how great she is in them,” MacIntyre raved.  “It was a very friendly happy thing.  Actually this season was very friendly and happy to shoot for everyone.  It just felt like we were all digging and happier and our characters knew more than they did last year.  As a cast we're very comfortable with each other, and we just kind of stayed the same.  We have our fun.  We know when to take it seriously and when to laugh. It wasn't a shake up; it was just a moving on with different plots.”
