how i met your motherGreg Malins, who serves as the executive producer of How I Met Your Mother, has just inked a two-year deal with 20th Century Fox.  This new agreement allows him to develop new ideas for the studio, while sticking with the CBS comedy series until 2010, alongside creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays.

Given the fact that he really enjoys working on How I Met Your Mother, the decision to remain with the series for at least two years wasn't at all difficult. The show, which stars Josh Radnor as Ted Mosby, who tells his son and daughter about the events that led to his meeting their mother, returns for its fourth season next fall.  Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan and the rest of the crew of How I Met Your Mother are also scheduled to return for work on June 13.

"All of us feel very lucky to be on a show that we really like," Greg Malins told Variety.  "It's a comedy we feel proud of."

According to Variety, Malins has several projects in mind, both in the single-camera and multi-camera arenas as part of his new deal with 20th Century Fox, which is in the significant seven-figure range.

"My development experience at 20th has been just great," he said.  "Their overall thing is, 'Do what you think the show should be rather than what we think the show should be.'  That's great to hear as a writer."

Prior to How I Met Your Mother, Malins served as writer/executive producer to award-winning series such as Will & Grace, Friends, Come to Papa and Daddy Dearest.  Most recently, he worked on the comedy pilot The 16th Minute, which is about five friends bonding over their brief moment in the spotlight, which occurred at various different points in their lives.
