In the ninth episode of the fifth season of
House, Zeljko Ivanek, best known for his Emmy-winning role as Ray Fiske on
Damages, guest stars as a sick man named Jason who's been complaining that he has sought help from many doctors in the last two years but to no avail. Now, he seeks medical attention from the best doctor in the hospital to give him the right diagnosis.
But when House refuses to help him, Jason takes out a gun and threatens the doctor's life unless House finds a cure for him. The man then holds House, Thirteen, and several patients hostage in Cuddy's office. Forced to obey the gun-wielding man, House must use the hostages, including Thirteen, to act as guinea pigs to assure the hostage-taker that the medications he is administering to him are legitimate.
Meanwhile, Cuddy and the rest of House's team communicate with House over the phone to run tests and offer possible diagnoses. They even ponder on the possibility that there's nothing physically wrong with the hostage-taker and that everyone in Cuddy's office could end up dead.
To make matters worse, Thirteen's health is diminishing as she simultaneously receives the experimental treatments the hostage is receiving while House has to end the standoff before a SWAT team opens fire.
Some hints have been reported that someone will die in this episode and fingers are pointing to Thirteen, whose real name will reportedly be mentioned. To find out, don't forget to catch “Last Resort” tonight at 8pm on FOX.
