BuddyTV Fan Popularity Rankings - July 30-August 5
Share This Share this
For the third week in a row, the top 10 shows in BuddyTV's Fan Popularity Rankings (FPR) remain the same, with a few minor alterations.  Now shows picked up or gained more than two spots, and the top three are in the exact same order as last week.  It definitely looks like the fans have spoken.

So You Think You Can Dance, Rock of Love and America's Next Top Model continue to reign at the top, in that order.  The elimination of Sara Von Gillern grew quite a reaction from fans, as it's getting harder to decide who should go home.  This week, with the results being preempted for pre-season football, it will be interesting to see if the show keeps the top spot, but with the final performances and results next week, So You Think You Can Dance fanatics will rule the day.  The question remains: how long after the show is off the air will it take for the show to drop off the top 10 on the FPR?

Rock of Love continues to build momentum with its trashy sex appeal.  BuddyTV offers recaps of every episode Sunday nights, as well as exclusive interviews with your favorite ladies.  We've already posted our interviews with Brandi C. and Lacey, and next up will be deep-voiced MagdalenaAmerica's Next Top Model's worldwide domination is sure to keep it at the top of the FPR for a very long time, especially with the new cycle  little more than a month away.

After three straight weeks of dropping lower on the FPR, Big Brother 8 finally makes some headway getting back to fourth.  As the number of houseguests dwindles, and with So You Think You Can Dance ready to wrap up, perhaps the next few weeks will offer the perfect chance for this show to claim the to spot.

Age of Love makes the biggest jump of the week, moving to fifth, it's best showing yet on the FPR.  Last week the show was pared down to the final two with two more ladies going home.  BuddyTV offered up interviews with Megan and Maria, both of those final eliminated women.  Tonight offers the season finale when Mark Philippoussis picks his woman.  Will this be enough to propel the show even further up the list?

In sixth place is the list's highest-ranked scripted program, kids favorite Hannah Montana.  The new season, DVD and the immense popularity of Miley Cyrus among the tween demographic is enough to keep the momentum.  The Bachelor stays in the hunt, with more details about Andy Baldwin and Tessa Horst, rumors about who the new bachelor may be, and the arrival of Trista and Ryan Sutter's baby.

Prison Break jumps back up to eight.  It would be nice to think this was because fans are eager for the third season to start, but the trend for this show seems to be the tabloids.  All those pesky Wentworth Miller gay rumors have died down, but this week former co-star Lane Garrison was sentenced for his DUI arrested that resulted in the death of his 17-year-old passenger.

Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the New Doll stays on the FPR top 10, thus proving my hypothesis: men love scantily clad women.  Surprisingly, Lost is now in the 10th spot, the lowest it has ever been on the FPR.  Apparently fans are growing restless.  Despite some casting rumblings, news since Comicon hasn't been plentiful, and with that major event behind us, it's now six months until the Lost season 4 premiere with nothing but open waters ahead.  Will Lost be found on the FPR top 10 next week?  It's anyone's guess, but check back next Monday to find out.
