Take the BuddyTV Personality Quiz: Which High School Musical Character Are You?

Lucas Grabeel as Ryan Evans

Lucas Stephen Grabeel, born on November 23, 1984 in Springfield, Missouri, completed high school before moving to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. Once there, he landed his role in the Disney Channel original movie, Halloweentown High. However, it was his second project with Disney that catapulted his fame today. In 2006, he played Ryan Evans in the phenomenal made-for-TV movie, High School Musical, where he showcased not just his acting skills but his singing and dancing prowess as well.

In an interview with Media Village, Grabeel talked about his work on High School Musical. He said, "It has changed my life in a lot of ways. High School Musical has given me a platform for being a lot of different things that a lot of people get to see. We've gotten to do a lot of photo shoots and interviews and that kind of thing, which is completely different from what I ever expected [my life] to be like in Los Angeles. It's been a wild ride, a roller coaster."

Aside from being on the hit Disney production, Gabreel also appeared as guest on series such as Boston Legal, Smallville, Til Death, and Veronica Mars. In 2007, he became part of the movie Alice, where he played the role of Lester McKinley.

In the same interview, Grabeel talked about his stint on Smallville, where he played the young Lex Luthor. He said, "It was awesome. I was actually growing my hair out. My hair was like the longest it had ever been in London when we were doing the premiere for High School Musical there. I auditioned for another part on Smallville and they said they wanted me to play Lex Luthor, but I would have to shave my head. You don't really get that opportunity very often so I took it and shaved it all off."
