Bart Johnson as Coach Jack Bolton
Born on December 15, 1970 in Hollywood, California, Barton Robert Johnson grew up watching his mother work in studios and sets, where she was a hairstylist. From Los Angeles, his family moved to Park City, Utah, when he was 12 years old. His performance in a high school production of West Side Story sparked his interest in acting. He moved on to the University of Utah to study premed and earn a science degree, pursued his acting studies in Yale University's School of Drama. During his stay in Yale, he worked on stage productions such as Hedda Gabler and Cherry Orchard. He is the brother-in-law of
Gossip Girl star,
Blake Lively.
Johnson is best known for his role in the successful Disney hit,
High School Musical, where he played Coach Jack Bolton, the father of the lead character, Troy. He also appeared on
Saved by the Bell: The New Class,
Diagnosis Murder,
Crossroads,
Sunset Beach,
Walker, Texas Ranger,
Babylon 5,
CSI: Miami,
JAG,
Strong Medicine and
Las Vegas.
Aside from acting, Johnson's interests are surfing, mountain biking, football, soccer, basketball and kickboxing, as he studies with world champion kick boxer Billy Blanks. He also enjoys flying planes, and had received his pilot's license in 1999.
Johnson owns the Johnson Mill Bed & Breakfast in Midway, Utah, which was named by Redbook Magazine as "One of the 4 most Romantic Inn's in the Country."
