Fans mourning the loss of Nathan Petrelli on Heroes may have yet another death to grieve for. Word on the street is that NBC will finally pull the plug on the troubled series after years of enduring harsh criticisms and rocky ratings.  If this is true, season 4, which is ironically called "Redemption," will be the show's last.

Though the network hasn't released an official statement regarding the cancellation of Heroes, a well-paced source has revealed to Eonline.com that "Everyone is expecting this to be the last season. The cast, the crew, everyone."

Nothing shocking here, though. Heroes has been the subject of the "should it or shouldn't it be axed" controversy for several months (or years) now. And while the fourth season did bring in some new mystery arcs and villains, it still isn't enough to bring the series back to its former season 1 glory.

The rumored termination of the show also makes sense now that Sendhil Ramamurthy, who plays Mohinder Suresh, has been cast in the upcoming TV project Rex Is Not My Lawyer. A rep for NBC tells Eonline.com though that "Rex is just a pilot right now, so [Sendhil] is still on Heroes. Rex is in second position to Heroes."

However, let's not forget that there have been other recent members of the "second position" club, who were cast on a new series before their own series was officially canceled, including Brian Austin Green (Terminator, Body Politic), Lindsay Price (Lipstick Jungle, Eastwick) and Tyler Labine (Reaper, Sons of Tucson), just to name a few.
