NBC has already announced the premiere dates for its fall shows, kicking off the highly anticipated, The Jay Leno Show, on Monday, September 14 at 10pm---a week before the official start of the 2009-10 TV season. The Biggest Loser will also get an early start this fall as it kicks off the news season with a two-hour episode on Tuesday, September 15.
Based on the schedule, it looks like the network will stick to its traditional launch strategy this fall with the exception of its Thursday comedy block, which will bow a week early. NBC will serve most of the network's signature comedies on September 17, including
Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday, Parks and Recreation, followed by the sixth season of
The Office at its usual 9pm timeslot and the new comedy
Community, a series from Emmy winners Joe and Anthony Russo (
Arrested Development) that revolves around a band of community college misfits led by a lawyer portrayed by Joel McHale (
The Soup).
As for the rest of the fall schedule, NBC will take its time rolling it out. The much awaited fourth season of
Heroes will kick off its
Redemption volume with a two-hour episode on Monday, September 21. Heroes will continue in its regular 8pm timeslot the following Monday followed by the premiere of
Trauma at 9pm. The family drama
Parenthood, on the other hand, premieres on Wednesday, September 23 and will serve as a lead-in to
Law & Order: SVU, while Emmy winner
30 Rock will launch its fourth season in its regular Thursday 9:30pm timeslot beginning October 15.
