This summer, you can buy all the
Heroes you want. NBC announced today that
Heroes action figures will begin hitting stores in early June.
Heroes and NBC joined forces with Mezco Toyz to create a series of seven inch action figures (not dolls!), which represents
Heroes first foray into the toy market. The action figures will be available anywhere toys are sold – major online retailers, department stores, specialty shops – as well as NBCstore.com and the NBC Experience Store. Mezco Toys has previously created action figures for such big name franchises as
South Park, Family Guy, and The Goonies. In this first run of action figures, these characters will be featured: Claire Bennet, Mohinder Suresh, Sylar, Hiro Nakamura and Peter Petrelli.

Of the forthcoming action figures, NBC Vice President Kim Niemi said, “We are certain that the loyal 'Heroes' fans will feel that these figures reflect the action and excitement of the series and we look forward to introducing additional characters in the months to come.” It only makes sense that
Heroes is finally releasing action figures for their characters – isn't that what superhero franchises are supposed to do?
Heroes has already been selling art (most notably by Tim Sale) and released comic books based on the series, so this was only a logical progression of
Heroes marketing.
That being said, I've looked at what the action figures will look like, and I wasn't terribly impressed. They don't bear much resemblance the characters. Maybe it's just been a long time since I've collected such things and you just can't be picky when it comes to the faces on action figures. As an added bonus, If you're interested in making the figures true to life, you can have the Claire and Peter figures make out. That'd be kind of weird though – Claire's still a high schooler.
