Don't fret, Haven fans -- you do not need to worry about show cancellation triggering any latent Troubles. Not yet anyway. Syfy has announced that Haven has been renewed for season 4. Keep reading for all of the details.
The supernatural mystery show will return in 2013 with 13 new Haven season 4 episodes, Syfy announced in a press release on Friday, November 9. In the announcement, Mark Stern, the president of Original Content on the cable network made the following statement:
"We couldn't be happier to see the story of Audrey Parker and the creepy, quirky town of Haven continue next year. Season three has hit a creative and critical high, and we're very excited to see where the talented production team takes our colorful cast of characters, led by the perfect trifecta of Emily Rose, Eric Balfour and Lucas Bryant in season four."
This news necessarily comes as a huge relief to Haven fans, all of whom know that the series has a tendency to end its seasons on major cliffhangers. With production on the currently airing season 3 wrapped, you just know they've already set up something that would make everyone scream in unending agony, should Haven not return for a season 4.
Season 3 of Haven has shown a reliable increase in ratings over past seasons. Ranked as the number 1 cable program among adults 18-49 on Friday nights at 10pm, Haven has averaged 2.4 million total viewers thus far in season 3. In addition to this, the season 3 premiere on September 21 boasted 2.8 million viewers, a 10 percent jump from the numbers watching the season 2 premiere.
Haven is loosely based on a Stephen King novella, The Colorado Kid, and follows the supernatural happenings centered around an odd town in coastal Maine. Main characters Audrey Parker (Emily Rose), Nathan Wuornos (Lucas Bryant) and Duke Crocker (Eric Balfour) constantly try to help the "Troubled" -- people who manifest supernatural and often destructive abilities -- while trying to figure out their own complicated pasts and destinies.
The central character of Audrey Parker, a woman who has lived at least three false lives that she can't remember, will supposedly find the answers to many of her questions this season. Now that there's a season 4 coming, we have to wonder which new questions could be coming to drive the future of Haven.
Haven airs at 10pm Fridays on Syfy.
