After weeks of male dominated casting news, word has finally begun to emerge on some female costars set to join the
Kate Walsh helmed
Grey's Anatomy spin-off. Both of this individuals should be familiar to
Grey's Anatomy fans, even though they've never appeared on Grey's. The casting department for the
Grey's Anatomy spin-off is keeping to its formula of casting television vets for the as yet untitled show that follows Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery as she contemplates life outside of Seattle Grace. Which 'Alias' and 'Judging Amy' stars are headed to the
Grey's Anatomy spin-off? Read on to find out.
First up, talk about veterans... Amy Brenneman who served on the bench of Judging Amy for six long seasons, serving as the shows lead as well as producer and occasional writer. Brenneman is a powerhouse both on and off the screen. Prior to Judging Amy she was a regular for eighteen episodes of NYPD Blue. With a courtroom drama and a cop show in her background, a medical drama seems a natural progress. As usual, the casting announcement holds absolutely no details concerning the character Brenneman will play in the as yet untitled Grey's Anatomy spin-off.
Next up is yet another ABC veteran
Merrin Dungey. The former Alias and King of Queens star has a nice blend of comedy and grim action and adventure in her background. One thing we know she does well with her part on Alias as Sydney's best friend - and occasional enemy - Francie is play duplicity to a fine art. Grey's isn't required to dwell in an actors proven strengths, of course, but it would be sad not to see more of Dungey's mean side.
The 'pilot' for the Grey's Anatomy spin off also serves as the finale for Grey's itself. So far casting includes Taye Diggs, Tim Daly, Paul Adelstein, and Chris Lowell.
