What about Jonathan, you say? Doesn't Eric get a little reprieve for the little Cotillion misstep on
Gossip Girl?
From the looks of it, no. And judging from a casting call for a new character on the CW show, Eric's (Connor Paolo) breakup with Jonathan (Matt Doyle) seems permanent--unlike the game of relationship musical chairs that the older folks play on this show.
Entertainment Weekly reports that
Gossip Girl is casting for a potentially recurring character named Elliot - an "attractive, upscale, scruffy 16-year-old" who lives in Eric's building.
On the last episode of
Gossip Girl, Eric was too busy conniving with classmates to bring Jenny (Taylor Momsen) down to think about romance, but since the step-siblings patched things up ten seconds later, maybe now he's ready for a new boy in his life.
Since being outed in season 1, Eric's romantic relationships on
Gossip Girl have not exactly been longterm. There was Jenny's then-boyfriend Asher (Jesse Swenson) in season 1, then on-and-off boyfriend and classmate Jonathan in seasons 2 and 3. Jonathan dumped him during the episode, "They Shoot Humphreys, Don't They?" when he was Eric was being sucked into Jenny's manipulative world.
Is this too soon for Serena's (Blake Lively) little brother? More importantly, any casting suggestions for this Elliot fella?
