In BuddyTV’s 2007 Fall TV Guide, we stared at countless photographs of the new show casts to determine which were most pleasing to the eye (the “Beauties”) and which weren’t so pleasant (the “Beasts”). In the end, we settle on Private Practice, Cane and Gossip Girl as having the hottest casts, while Cavemen, Dirty Sexy Money and Back to You all came up short in the looks department.

Did you really expect anything less than perfection from the young cast of Gossip Girl, the hot new teenage soap on the CW. The superficial heir apparent to One Tree Hill, Gossip Girls stars all look pre-airbrushed and ready to take on the covers of Maxim, Seventeen and Cosmo Girl. Heck, even the parents are hot.

Gossip Girl takes place in Manhattan and features the age-old class warfare between the haves and the have-nots. Of course, on the CW, no matter which side of the tracks you grow up on, everyone comes from the same blessed end of the gene pool. The rich kids all live in hotels or super-fancy high rises, the poor kids live in ridiculously large and lavish lofts that are entirely out of their family's price range.

"Blake Lively" First, let's examine the rich kids. Female leads Blake Lively (Serena) and Leighton Meester (Blair) are undeniably lovely girls. With model good looks, young girls all want to be them, and young men just plain want them.

It's no surprise that Chace Crawford's character is in love with both of them, nor any surprise that Crawford will soon be the object of obsession for teenage girls across the country. More of a James Lafferty than a Chad Michael Murray, it should come as no surprise that Crawford, a Texas boy, cut his teeth as a model before becoming an actor.

The poor kids, however, are just as rich in looks. Taylor Momsen plays Jenny Humphrey, the awkward outcast who just wants to fit in with the cool kids. When you look at her stunning features, it makes this idea laughable.

Her brother is played by Penn Badgley, an actor the former WB network was desperate to turn into America's next big teen heartthrob. We was given leading roles in Do Over, The Mountain and The Bedford Diaries, three early failures, and here is Badgley in his fourth leading role. Not too bad for a guy still too young to drink a beer.

"Matthew Settle"The most striking part of the cast, however, is that the parents are just as hot as the kids, if not hotter. Kelly Rutherford is divine as Serena's socialite mother, and it's easy to see why she was cast to play Lively's mom. Both have the same soft, delicate features and striking blonde hair, and it's hard to say who's more attractive, mother or daughter.

For the ladies, a similar debate can brew between Badgley and his TV dad, Matthew Settle. The 37-year-old actor plays a former rock star, as if his natural good looks weren't enough to drive the girls crazy.  Seen last season wooing Calista Flockhart's Kitty on Brothers & Sisters, Settle may be too young to be a believable father (unless he had his kids at 17-years-old), but he's just young enough to be drooled over by teenage girls without it being overly disturbing.

Young or old, male or female, it doesn't matter. Gossip Girl has its “beautiful people” quotient covered.
