With the premiere of Glee
season 5 coming up quickly, details of the first few episodes have been leaking. At the MTV Video Music Awards, Naya Rivera dished on the role that Demi Lovato will play. There's more insight into the Cory Monteith memorial episode and find out which former cast members you'll see -- and who you won't.
Glee is available on Amazon Prime.
Lovato on the "Dark Side"
With Brittany out of the picture due to actress Heather Morris' pregnancy, Santana's left alone in New York. But she won't be for long. We already knew Demi Lovato would be joining the cast
as Dani, a struggling artist friend of Rachel's, but now we know more about the role.
Naya Rivera revealed to MTV News that the X Factor
judge will play Santana's love interest!
"I mean, she's playing my love interest, so I'm very, very excited about that," Rivera said, jokingly adding that Lovato will be coming over to the "dark side."
Glee will air the first three episodes of the season -- two Beatles-themed and the Cory Monteith/Finn Hudson tribute -- before taking a hiatus for the MLB playoffs. Lovato will make her debut on the second episode.
Rivera also said those three episodes are currently being shot -- all at the same time.
Check out her interview below:
The Tribute Episode
Glee will be bringing back a host of familiar faces for the tribute episode, titled "The Quarterback." (Already starting to feel the tears here).
According to E!
here's who we'll see: Mercedes, Mike Chang, Puck, Emma, Coach Bieste, Burt Hummel and Finn's mom, Romy Rosemont. This means that Quinn and Brittany won't be returning. While it's understandable that Heather Morris won't reprise her role of Brittany due to her pregnancy, we're a bit puzzled as to why Dianna Agron won't appear as Quinn, with all the history that Quinn and Finn have.
E! also revealed something interesting: Rachel won't appear in the episode until the end. Although it is not known how Finn will die, the news of his death is how the episode will start.
First Look at New Season
What happened to Principal Figgins? In a first look at the new season, we find out that it's not Coach Sue Sylvester -- it's Principal Sue Sylvester. And being in charge of the school doesn't mean she's any less mean and obnoxious. If you recall, Sue was principal for a short period of time back in season 2 after he gets sick.
Darren Criss, who plays Blaine, reveals more clues into the upcoming season.
"At the end of season 4 we had a little bit of a cliffhanger -- I don't know, maybe kinda sorta. A little box behind Blaine's back. Who knows what's in the box? Blaine is getting ideas and it might have something to do with something that rhymes with shaposal."
