Wedding bells could be in the air on Glee once again in the season 4 finale. EOnline first reported that, in the upcoming fourth season finale, one of the show's main characters will propose to the love of his life.

And that character is Blaine. And the proposal is for Kurt. Yes, Blaine will pop the question after visiting a jewelry store and being inspired by an older lesbian couple, who will be played by guest stars Patty Duke and Meredith Baxter. The two may also recur in the potential fifth season to mentor the young gay couple.

Duke is an award-winning actress who notably won an Oscar for playing Helen Keller in the 1962 film The Miracle Worker and on an Emmy for the 1979 TV movie of The Miracle Worker where she played Anne Sullivan. Baxter, who recently came out as a lesbian, is most famous for playing the mom on Family Ties.

Of course the outcome of said proposal remains in doubt. Kurt and Blaine aren't exactly a couple right now after breaking up due to Blaine cheating. They're also in different cities (though Blaine will most likely apply and get in to NYADA).

Then there's the whole issue of Adam, Kurt's current "boyfriend," though even the Glee writers don't seem to take him seriously as a rival for Blaine's love. Heck, during Kurt's relationship with Adam he hooked up with Blaine in cars and hotel rooms during Will's non-wedding, and Kurt even fantasized about Blaine while watching Moulin Rouge with Adam sitting right next to him.

Also, it's worth noting that Kurt was quite vocal about his disapproval of Rachel and Finn's engagement because they were too young (but maybe being one year older makes it OK). One of the main reasons Rachel agreed to marry Finn was because Karofsky's attempted suicide made her realize life is short, so maybe the shooting in the school has done the same thing for Blaine, making a knee-jerk decision about the rest of his life based on one traumatizing incident.

Whatever the case, fans will have to wait until the season 4 finale to learn if Kurt will accept Blaine's offer of gay marriage (the latest in a long series of very topical issues the show is addressing).

This is the latest in a very long series of proposals on Glee. Sam fake married Brittany (and once proposed to Quinn), Finn proposed to Rachel and Will and Ken Tanaka both proposed to Emma, but none of those actually panned out. Meanwhile, Coach Beiste's marriage to Cooter and Emma's marriage to Carl both ended badly. That's a whole lot of failed engagements and marriages, though to Glee's credit, there is one successful wedding on the books with Kurt's dad and Finn's mom.

Glee airs Thursdays at 9pm on the season 4 finale airs May 9.
