has made some changes to its schedule for 2014, and it involves a big
shake-up on Tuesday nights. One comedy is getting a new time slot, one
is taking an extended hiatus and Glee
is coming back to its old
night. In addition, a big post-football time slot is being swapped from a
new drama to a returning one.
Glee is available on Amazon Prime.
Here are the big changes to FOX's schedule.Glee Moves Back to TuesdaysGlee
is returning to its old home on Tuesday night's when it comes back. Season 5 will air its fall finale Thursday, December 5, and it returns Tuesday, February 25 at 8pm. The new night will feature the final weeks of the school year as New Directions prepare for Nationals and the seniors get ready to graduate. The Mindy Project Goes on a Break
The ratings-challenged comedy The Mindy Project
will be taking a very long hiatus in the winter. The show will go off the air after the January 28 episode and won't return until April 1 with a special one-hour relaunch at 9pm. In addition, Dads
will be going off the air after the February 11 episode to make room for Glee
.Brooklyn Nine-Nine's New Time
Not only is freshman comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine
airing after the Super Bowl (with New Girl
), but it will be moving to a post-New Girl
time slot permanently. Starting on February 4, the Andy Samberg sitcom moves to 9:30pm on Tuesdays. That's two days after its big Super Bowl episode, so the move might help get it some bigger ratings (especially with less competition). The first season finale of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will air March 25.The Following's Two-Night Premiere
Perhaps inspired by Almost Human
, FOX will give The Following
a similar two-night premiere. The season 2 premiere will air Sunday, January 19 at 10pm after the NFC championship game. It will start in its regular time slot, Mondays at 9pm, the next day on January 20.
Previously FOX had planned to use the NFC championship game to launch the new Greg Kinnear drama Rake
. However, that has changed and it will now premiere in its regular time slot, Thursdays at 9pm after American Idol, on January 23. I'm not sure if this switch is a vote of confidence for The Following
or a troubling sign for Rake
