General Hospital: Can Sonny Ever Leave The Mob Behind?
General Hospital: Can Sonny Ever Leave The Mob Behind?
A few months ago, on General Hospital, it seemed that Sonny Corinthos might actually be able to leave the world of organized crime and live a normal life.  His son was shot during a hit that was meant for him.  Michael still remains in a coma and is currently at a long term care facility.  Unable to cope with the shooting of her son, Carly took action against Sonny and demanded that he sign over the rights to his other son with her, Morgan.  Sonny sat on the sidelines as Jax swooped in to take over the role of Morgan's father and decided that he needed to make some serious changes to his life.  He gave up his organization to Jason but when a Russian mobster came to Port Charles looking for someone to help him facilitate business relationships, Sonny couldn't help but put one foot back into the mob world, kicking off a series events that almost cost him the woman he loves.

It seemed that Sonny had finally found happiness and peace, in fiance Kate Howard (who is actually Connie Falconeri from his hometown of Bensonhurst).  The two planned a beautiful wedding but just as the ceremony was getting started, an assassin fired shots from the choir loft and a bullet hit Kate in the chest.  She is currently recuperating at General Hospital but even though she is alive, Sonny is still out for blood.  He doesn't feel that someone can make an attack on him and the people he loves while he stands by and does nothing.  Though the police are trying to investigate, Sonny is insisting on handling things himself and right now, his sights are set on Andre Karpov.

Unfortunately for Sonny, and everyone else involved, Karpov is not the shooter - Anthony Zacchara is.  Zacchara purposely set it up to look like Karpov was responsible and he has devised a plan that ends with Sonny killing Jason.  He hopes that while Sonny reacts irrationally, Jason will try to sort out all the details before taking any action.  Sonny will see this as a great act of disloyalty and, with a little push from Zacchara, will take Jason out.  As many people have told Sonny over the years: violence breeds violence.  If someone doesn't stop the cycle, it will continue and the residents of Port Charles will lose more people that they love.  The question is: will Sonny ever be able to be the person to stop being part of what has cost him so much?
