For those who are watching Friday Night Lights at the moment and are admittedly anxious about how they'll cope with Zach Gilford's farewell arc--his father's death, his departure for Chicago, the lack of phone calls to Julie--well, there's possibly still hope.

Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello reports that Gilford has taken a major role in a drama pilot for ABC, called Matadors.

Call it a bit like Romeo & Juliet and that Fox series Skin: it's about two rival families in Chicago, one entrenched in the DA's office and the other in a high-profile law firm. Gilford is set to play the male lead, Alex Galloway.

Now, again, this is a pilot, but wouldn't it be nice to see him on our televisions after his Friday Night Lights stint ends?
