If you don't have DirecTV, the fifth season begins on NBC starting Friday, April 15 at 8pm.

It feels kind of surreal writing about Friday Night Lights season 5. Anyone who's followed this small town drama from the beginning never dreamed it would make it this far. For its first couple of seasons the show was constantly on the brink of cancellation. That is until DirecTV threw a Hail Mary pass and picked up the show for its 101 Network. DirecTV worked out a deal with NBC that ended up being the best possible solution for the Dillon Panthers.

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

Friday Night Lights Season 5 Spoilers

Details about Friday Night Lights season 5 have been kept to a minimum. The only tease comes from Kyle Chandler who plays our fearless leader, Coach Taylor, when he told EW that the show went out with a "touch of class." Aside from that comforting (yet vague) response from Chandler, all we really know about season 5 is that almost all of the original cast will make their way to Dillon at some point during the final season.

In addition to the series regulars, returning favorites include: Jason Street (Scott Porter), Tyra Colette (Adrianne Palicki), Matt Scaracen (Zach Gilford), Landry Clarke (Jesse Plemons) and Tim Riggins (Taylor Kitsch). The most notable omission on this list is Brian "Smash" Williams (Giaus Charles). He got a wonderful sendoff, but it would still be nice to check in with the Smash. Hopefully, we will still get some Mama Smash!

Knowing that Friday Night Lights season 5 will be the series' last will help fans approach the show with less anxiety than ever before. It's comforting to know that the 13 episode season is already in the can, and that the vision of the show's creators is going to be fulfilled. While it is sad to see the show go, we still should pinch ourselves and consider us lucky we got five seasons worth of great storytelling.

So are you pumped for season 5? Are there any storylines you are dying to see resolved? While you wait for Friday Night Lights season 5 to kickoff, check out this subtle, yet still exciting, promo for the new season.
