Kids, say hello to a new Friday Night Lights dad.

Former The Practice star Steve Harris is set to join the show's fourth season as Vernon Merriweather, a former football star who is father to East Dillon newcomer Jess (Jurnee Smollett), according to Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello.
The two-time Emmy nominee is set to appear in at least seven episodes in the upcoming season, which airs first on DirecTV on October 28.

Harris is the latest in a string of new cast arrivals as FNL shakes up its cast with some of its established characters graduating from Dillon High.  Matt Lauria, Michael B. Jordan and Madison Burge have been previously announced to join the cast as fellow East Dillon newbies Luke, Vince and Becky, respectively.
