The football season has already begun, and the characters on Friday Night Lights
are up against another plight. Tonight, the series features “How the Other Half Lives,” where people's sense of trust and security in relationships are tested. It's not going to be easy, but that's probably why audiences sit back and watch the action in Dillon, Texas.
In “How the Other Half Lives,” we see how Eric (Kyle Chandler
) frets over his job security. He begins to wonder how long he will last, or if he's really suited for it or not. Also, Dillon High's new principal Tami (Connie Britton
) tries to befriend a newcomer. She extends a hand to Katie McCoy (Janine Turner), mother to J.D. McCoy.
Meanwhile, Julie (Aimee Teegarden
) shows her support for Matt (Zach Gilford
), and the two connect again. Lyla (Minka Kelly
) also worries about the welfare of Riggins (Taylor Kitsch
) and Billy (Derek Philips), who work on another scheme. It's possible that something could go wrong when they put their heads together to make some money.
The previous Friday Night Lights
episode showed how Tami gets infuriated by the actions of Tyra (Adrianne Palicki
). Tyra decided to run for student council, and resorted to campaign tactics that Tami didn't quite approve of. “Tami Knows Best” ended with Matt offering Julie a ride home and sharing a laugh regarding their future.
Friday Night Lights
premiered in 2006, and was well received by critics. The series and its creators have been nominated for and won numerous awards already. During its first season, it won the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award for broadcasting excellence. It also managed to receive accolades from the American Film Institute, the American Cinema Editors, and the Television Critics Association.
Currently, Friday Night Lights
is being aired exclusively on DirecTV. The episode “How the Other Half Lives” will premiere tonight, October 15 at 9pm. The third season will re-air on NBC in 2009.
