Jermaine Clement is one half of the sketch comedy duo Humourbeasts along with Academy Award nominee, Taika Cohen, with whom Clement recently teamed for the film Eagle vs. Shark. Clement also co-wrote the movie Tongan Ninja which is a spoof of B-movies, martial arts flicks, damsel in distress plots and James Bond stories. He is also half of the New Zealand folk comedy duo, Flight of the Conchords, with Bret McKenzie.

One half of New Zealand 'folk comedy' duo Flight of the Conchords, with Bret McKenzie.

Describes his heritage as "part Maori, part European".

His fashion-sense and appearance that he strives for is that of "an ogre who works in a library", or "Prince but when he's just going to the store or something - casual Prince.".

He was also a writer and cast member of the television shows Skitz and Tellylaughs in New Zealand.

In 2000 he was given a Special Radio Awards Commendation for The Sunglass Store.

In 1999, he was a Radio Awards Winner as writer for Trashed, for Channel Z, Wellington.

It was also at Victoria University that Clement met Bret McKenzie, and together they formed Flight of the Conchords.

He met Taika Waititi (a.k.a. Taika Cohen) at Victoria University and they later went on to form the Humourbeasts.

He moved to Wellington where he studied drama and film at Victoria University of Wellington.
