Extreme Makeover: Home Edition returns at the end of next month for season 5.  The show kicks off with a special two-hour premiere on September 30 starting at 7pm before moving to its regular time at 8pm the next week.  It promises to come back bigger and better than ever.  On the season premiere, the crew will travel farther than they ever have before to help a family in Alaska.  This year, the show is trying to cover as much ground as possible and will be building families new homes in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Minnesota, and more!

Of course, Ty Pennington returns as host and secret room builder.  Carpenters Paige Hemmis, Paul DiMeo, and John Littlefield are back along with builders Ed Sanders, Eduardo Xol, and Preston Sharp.  Interior designers Michael Moloney, Tanya McQueen, and Tracy Hutson will also be back on the job.

Controversy surrounds the new season, as reports have been made that an episode filmed in Hawaii features the Akana family, who made over $200,000 in salary the year before and were not truly in need.  The family received a new house and preschool building from the Extreme Makeover crew.  Judge for yourself when the show premieres September 30 on ABC.
