'Drake and Josh' Star Gets Own Show
'Drake and Josh' Star Gets Own Show
Next month, Drake and Josh star Miranda Cosgrove will star in her very own Nickelodeon show, iCarly.  Back to back episodes will air on Saturday, September 8, as part of TEENick.  After the premiere, its regular time slot will be Sundays at 7:30 ET/PT.

The series also stars Jerry Trainor, Nathan Kress, and Jenette McCurdy.  Drake and Josh fans will recognize Trainor as Crazy Steve from the series.  He has also appeared on Crossing Jordan and in the movies Bring It On Again and Donnie Darko.  Kress has appeared in many sketches on Jimmy Kimmel Live over the years and has also been seen on Drake and Josh and The Suite Life Of Zack and Cody.  McCurdy has previously been featured on fellow Nickelodeon show, Zoey101.

On the show, Cosgrove plays Carly Shea, a hip teen whose popularity is due to her hit webshow on icarly.com.  Carly lives with her guardian brother, Spencer (Jerry Trainor).  As shown in the premiere episode, Carly becomes an internet sensation almost by accident after her teacher puts her in charge of the school talent show.  Carly turns the audition process into a secret webshow, which has internet fans begging for more.  Carly and her best friend Sam (Jenette McCurdy) team up for the webisodes, which feature sketches, contests, interviews, and advice.

Thanks to iCarly, fans will be able to directly involved with the show.  The show will combine original content submitted by kids with the scripted content of the show.  Kids can check out iCarly.com for all the info they need regarding the show as well as upload videos to be part of it.

Fans have speculated that iCarly means an end to Drake and Josh though Nickelodeon has yet to issue a formal announcement.  However, each of the stars seem to be heading in their own direction.  Besides Cosgrove getting her own show, Drake Bell has looked to focus more on his music career and is currently on tour.  Fellow star Josh Peck's goal is to move into film and has two movies out in the next year.  However, according to IMDB, filming is currently in production for an upcoming Nick movie, Drake and Josh in New York.
