Three months after started taking advance orders for the season 3 DVD - both for standard DVD and high-def Blu-ray Disc formats - of hit Showtime series Dexter, the cable company has finally pegged a release date for the heavily anticipated season - August 18th.

Showtime and Paramount Home Entertainment have officially informed retailers that the DVD for Dexter's third season will be available in mid-August for $42.99 for the standard DVD and $59.99 for Blu-ray.  While the extra features and add-on's haven't been revealed thus far, the running time is reportedly approximately 600 minutes.

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

When we left Dexter (Michael C. Hall) on its third season, we saw a drop of blood from his cast fell upon Rita's (Julie Benz) wedding dress as the two danced.  On the night before their wedding, Dexter was captured by the Skinner, but he managed to break free by taking advantage of a moment of distraction. He, however, broke his hand in the process. After some fighting, Dexter managed to snap the Skinner's neck and make it look like suicide by throwing his body before a running police car.  Dexter got his broken hand put in a cast and attends his wedding. He admitted to himself that his wedding vows "to be the best husband and father he could be" were absolutely true.

Also, the show's third season is the only one where  Dexter didn't use any electric type tools to kill someone.

Dexter's fourth season will premiere alongside Californication's third in late September, but no exact date has been given.
