Rachel Melvin was born February 9, 1985 in Elmhurst, Illinois and was raised in Phoenix, Arizona. Her first acting job was for a role in an independent film Boo. Her major project was that of Days of Our Lives where she played Chelsea Benson. Melvin is also a singer and electric violin player. Melvin has also guest-starred on Summerland, Jack & Bobby and 8 Simple Rules.

Chelsea Benson (born Georgia Brady on May 22, 1988 in Louisiana) is the long lost daughter of Billie Reed and Bo Brady. Chelsea was also a bad influence to her friend Abby, encouraging her to smoke, drink and lie to her mother. She was also involved in some car accidents, the worst being one where she got her half-brother killed. She was also involved with Max Brady, who kept Chelsea's secret about accidentally killing Zack. Chelsea liked older men, specifically Patrick Lockhart. She saw Billie as a competition, thus hating her a lot. What she did not know was that Billie was her biological mother. But after all the negative events in her life, she wanted to change so she served her community service at the hospital where she discovered a file. It was proof that Claire is not the daughter of Philip but of Shawn. This caused a lot of havoc and criminal charges filed against her but after the DNA testing the charges against her was dropped.
