John Callahan is an actor whose work on the soap circuit stretches back over 20 years.  He has a lot of credits to his name including stints on Falcon Crest and Santa Barbara but his role as Edmund Grey on All My Children from April 1992 to March 2005 has brought him the most fame and acclaim.  Soon, the 54-year-old actor will be returning the soap world, nearly three years after playing his infamous character.  This time, however, he'll be gracing the town of Salem as he joins the cast of Days of our Lives.

On All My Children, Callahan came to Pine Valley in search of a life he once and to uncover the Will Cortlandt murder mystery.  On Days of our Lives, he'll be serving as the doctor of Nicole Walker (Arianne Zuker), who is currently pregnant with EJ's (James Scott) baby.

This is not Callahan's first time on Days of our Lives.  In 1989, he already guest starred as the character Artie Doyle.

In other Days of our Lives news, NBC has set the date for the Eric Martsolf and Galen Gering's first airdates.  As reported previously, these former Passions stars are heading to Salem this fall.  One the actors will portray a newly created role, the other will fill the shoes of an already-created character.

Eric Martsolf, who is best known for his role as Ethan Winthrop on Passions, will “taking on the role of Brady Black and will return to Salem to settle unresolved issues with Chloe.”  On the other hand, Gering, who is credited for his role as Officer Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald on Passions, will be joining Days of our Lives as an FBI Agent who comes to Salem working on a special case.

Gering is slated to debut on Days of our Lives on October 31, while Martsolf is expected to debut on November 13.
