Following the Olympics, NBC is setting its sights on the heartland with its new reality competition Stars Earn Stripes
The show features eight celebrities going through various forms of
military training to see if they can handle the rigors of the armed
forces. The show will be hosted by Dancing with the Stars
' Samantha Harris and retired general Wesley Clark.
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
The premise alone sounds like an obvious attempt to create a show that appeals to the more conservative TV viewers, the Glenn Beck-loving Tea Party members who will relish a show that's all about the military. That might be a typical, cynical liberal media opinion, but since one of the contestants is Sarah Palin's husband, former potential First Dude Todd Palin, I feel like my cynicism is justified.
Yes, it seems Sarah Palin's Alaska
, Bristol Palin's time on Dancing with the Stars
and Bristol's new Lifetime reality show Life's a Tripp
weren't enough for the Palin family, so now Todd will test his mettle.
Here are the seven other contestants:
-Dean Cain, former Superman
-Laila Ali, boxer and Dancing with the Stars
-Terry Crews, a former NFL player and star of Everybody Hates Chris
-Nick Lachey, host of NBC's The Sing-Off
and member of 98 Degrees who, according to One Tree Hill
, should "stay out of it"
-Picabo Street, Olympic skier
-Dolvett Quince, trainer on NBC's The Biggest Loser
-Eva Torres, WWE wrestler
Based on this list, I have to assume contestants like Quince and Ali have a big advantage as they are known for their strength and determination.Stars Earn Stripes
