Dancing with the Stars: Why Chuck?

In one word, because he sucked.

There wasn't really much surprise when MMA fighter Chuck Liddell was kicked off Dancing with the Stars. Along with Michael Irvin and, believe it or not, Aaron Carter, Chuck was among the candidates to head home. With his first performances, some even couldn't understand why he was included in the roster, other than being among the Token Stiff Guy Who Just Might Be Amusing.

Read how Chuck got KO'd here.

However, I expected Michael Irvin to make that exit first - because you kind of have high expectations for him because of the track record of footballers on the show. On the other hand, Chuck's brood hasn't exactly been successful. Plus, Chuck was big on the MMA circuit, and he was widely considered to be responsible for bringing it to a broader audience. As far as I know, the MMA circuit has a huge following, and that alone would've given Chuck more votes, but I guess it wasn't enough.

On the other hand, Chuck Liddell's elimination told us that there are probably a lot of football fans who are watching Dancing with the Stars (and voting). Also, the fact that the universe had to interfere just to get Tom DeLay off the show, it tells us that fan base aren't nearly enough to save or vote off anyone. It would help though if you have Mya's scores, but with Debi Mazar being eliminated (and her scores are around the 9th on the average), that's not a guarantee either on Dancing with the Stars.
