Last season's pre-season odds weren't in favor of eventual winner Donny Osmond, but that doesn't mean odds are complete rubbish on
Dancing with the Stars. After all, Mya, the early favorite in season 9, finished a respectable second.
Don't forget to catch: Vote: Who's Your 'Dancing with the Stars' Pre-Season Favorite? The Vegas odds-makers are placing bets again this season on
Dancing with the Stars. With the unveiling of the 11 celebs, they're putting their money on two contestants: newly minted Olympic gold medalist Evan Lycasek and Pussycat Dolls lead Nicole Scherzinger.
Several factors play into their choices. For starters, Winter Games gold medalists have a stellar record on
Dancing with the Stars. Apolo Ohno and Kristi Yamaguchi both won their seasons after winning gold.
Lysacek's win in the men's figure skating event, the first in 22 years for the US, made him extremely popular, and votes are just as crucial as talent on Dancing with the Stars. His pro partner, Anna Trebunskaya, made her best finish in second place during
Dancing with the Stars season 2 with NFL star Jerry Rice. The athletes always have an advantage on
DWTS, as they are used to the grueling rehearsal and training regimen that the show requires.
But Evan isn't the only one who knows how to buckle down and polish a move to perfection: the musical and burlesque group Pussycat Dolls had their own grueling rehearsal and touring schedule, with Nicole Scherzinger always at center stage. Those who've seen Nicole in music videos or on stage will tell you that the girl can dance, and it won't hurt that she's very easy on the eyes. She could very well be this season's Mya.
Nicole's partner is Derek Hough, who is in himself very popular. He won season 7 with Brooke Burke, who
was recently chosen as
DWTS co-host. This couple is a clear front-runner, as both partners could be classified as "stars" at this point.
After Evan and Nicole, the Vegas bettors put the odds on NFL receiver Chad Ochocinco, soap star Aiden Turner, and actress Shannen Doherty. Next on the list are
Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson, sportscaster Erin Andrews, and ex-
Bachelor Jake Pavelka. And, according to their calculations, the three celebs fighting against the biggest odds are comedienne Niecy Nash, original octomom Kate Gosselin, and astronaut Buzz Aldrin.
