Dancing with the Stars 8: Top 6 Performance Live Thoughts (Page 1/4)
It's beginning to get very exciting over here at ABC. Dancing with the Stars season 8 is down to only six couples, every single one of them with a plausible chance at winning the mirror ball trophy.

Plus, not only do they have their individual routines tonight, the couples will also break into teams of three to dance off against one another. The epic battle is between Team Tango and Team Mambo.

Which celebrity will rise to the top tonight? During this hour remaining before the beginning of Dancing with the Stars tonight, feel free to post your predictions on how the night's events will turn out.

Live! From Hollywood! This is Dancing with the Stars!

Golly, Samantha Harris has barely uttered two words, but already she is irking me. This is going to be a long night, folks.

The celebrities make their way down the stairs, and it seems to be a sleeveless kind of night, at least for Chuck Wicks and Ty Murray. I'm gonna have to say that although Chuck is cuter, Ty has better arms. But no surprise there: boyfriend is a bullrider.

Uh oh! Melissa Rycroft isn't here tonight! So sad! She suffered an injury this week and will not be dancing tonight. I hope she's OK!

Everyone is dancing an unlearned Latin dance that was featured in Weeks 1 through 6.

Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke -- Lindy hop

Gilles and Cheryl have the lindy hop tonight, but from the rehearsal footage, it doesn't look like an auspicious style for them. The lindy, as we all know, is very high-energy with lots of lifts, but Gilles' shoulder is really hurting him. The doctor says that there's softening in his cartilage, and while he is OK to dance, he'll be in a lot of pain. The doc gives him a shot of cortisone in his shoulder, but Gilles still struggles during rehearsals.

In their performance tonight, it doesn't look like the same Gilles. He's not quite as effervescent as he has been usually, and he's actually a bit off rhythm at times. He still ends on a super high note because he's such a fighter.

However, the judges aren't quite so harsh as I am. Len Goodman says that because of this performance, the lindy hop can be added to the list of things the French are good at. Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba are also very positive and appreciate that Gilles can excel at the fun dances as well as the dramatic, sexy ones. So basically, I don't really know what I am talking about. Carry on, people!

The scores:
Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 27 out of 30

Lil' Kim and Derek Hough -- Paso doble

In rehearsal, Derek Hough says that he's worried that Lil' Kim might have some difficulty learning the paso because there's absolutely no hip motion in this style. But fortunately, she has the fierce attitude that you need for it, so I'm sure that she will just amaze us.

And she really does. You can hear the audience going nuts for her. She has great posture in the closed hold, a fabulous black, sparkly gown, and loads of patented Lil' Kim 'tude. She ends the piece in a flourish.

Bruno stands up and yells, "The bitch is back!" and he means that in the best possible way. He loves that it was a classic, classy paso. Carrie Ann stumbles over her words, but eventually gives a rave review about how far Lil' Kim has come. Len says that he was expecting "Oh no!" from this dance, but what he got was "Olé!" Lil' Kim gives each one of the judges a big kiss before heading backstage to get her scores.

The scores:
Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 9
Bruno: 10
Total: 28 out of 30
