Dancing with the Stars
returned again for another week tonight. There were no eliminations last week because of Misty May-Treanor
's Achilles tendon injury, so there was added pressure for all the remaining teams to step up. The judges' scores and viewers' votes from last week will all be carried over to this week, so everything counts.
Tonight's Dancing with the Stars
featured the high-energy samba and the fiery, traditional tango. Read on to see how the teams fared.
Brooke Burke and Derek Hough – 26
Samba, scores: 9+8+9=26. Two-week total: 54.
Brooke and Derek continue to dominate the ballroom competition with a sassy, fun samba. This team is clearly poised to go all the way.
Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer – 26
Tango, scores: 9+8+9=26. Two-week total: 48.
This week, Lance and Lacey finally struck the perfect balance between modern attitude and traditional ballroom. They had all the elements of a perfect tango to please Len Goodman, but they had so much of their own flavor showing through. A job well done to both of them.
Susan Lucci and Tony Dovolani – 24
Tango, scores: 8+8+8=24. Two-week total: 45.
I'm not sure why the judges keep giving Susan and Tony such high scores. She performed a respectable tango tonight, but I still think she looks timid and lacking energy.
Cody Linley and Julianne Hough – 23
Tango, scores: 7+8+8=23. Two-week total: 44.
This week, Cody Linley became a man. According to the judges, anyway. He was aggressive and confident in his tango.
Cloris Leachman and Corky Ballas – 22
Tango, scores: 8+7+7=22. Two-week total: 38.
Cloris wanted to step up her game and compete with the big girls. And you know what? It actually worked. She and Corky improved by leaps and bounds since last week. The audience awarded her with a standing ovation, and the judges awarded her with her best scores yet.
Toni Braxton and Alec Mazo – 22
Samba, scores: 7+7+8=22. Two-week total: 44.
Toni is an incredibly sexy Latin dancer. She and Alec really brought the heat tonight, but she had a mistake in one of her steps that cost her points with the judges.
Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson – 22
Samba, scores: 8+7+7=22. Two-week total: 47.
Warren has been improving steadily week by week on Dancing with the Stars
, but this week, he disappointed me a little bit. Kym could have given him a routine with more difficult technique because all in all, it was an entertaining performance, but a little weak on content.
Maurice Greene and Cheryl Burke – 20
Samba, scores: 6+7+7=20. Two-week total: 44.
After a great performance last week, Maurice must have forgotten to keep working on his precision. His samba was fun and had a lot of groovy attitude, but it was very sloppy and loose. Not exactly a performance that earned him respect from the judges. He and Cheryl had awesome Afro hairdos, though.
Rocco DiSpirito and Karina Smirnoff – 18
Samba, scores: 6+6+6=18. Two-week total: 38.
Rocco and Karina may have survived last week by the skin of their teeth, but I think this week, their number is up. Rocco tried with all his might to have fun and learn musicality by osmosis, but to no avail. The guy is better off in the kitchen, in my opinion.
