Six couples remain in the ballroom dancing sensation known as
Dancing with the Stars. Tonight's results show was not as shocking as last week's, when Cheetah Girl
Sabrina Bryan was unceremoniously kicked to the curb.
The night began with the sad news that
Marie Osmond's father had passed away this morning. As a result, Marie stayed home today to spend time with her family and was not present on tonight's show. We found out right away that she had enough votes to keep her safe from elimination.
There was a lot of filler tonight, including two performances by LeAnn Rimes, two dance analysis breaks with Dancecenter (featuring Kenny, Len and
Jerry Rice), and a breakdancing performance by the Rock Steady Crew, a Bronx-based b-boy group.
Len chose Mel and Maks to encore their kinky paso doble from yesterday, which gave us another chance to stare in awe at their amazing costumes. I wonder if they wore their Cheetah paw print pasties again.
After Marie and Jonathan, Cameron and Edyta were the next couple to be announced safe.
Amidst much recapping of the past weeks of the competition, and much nervous waiting, Mel and Maks are the next to be saved by the voting public. Considering that they got a perfect 30 for the paso doble last night, this isn't exactly a surprise.
Finally, squeezed into the very last three minutes of the hour-long broadcast, the final three couples awaited their fate. Instead of identifying which two couples were in the bottom two, Samantha and Tom informed the contenders that
Helio Castroneves and
Julianne Hough will join Marie, Cameron and Mel in the safe zone. That left
Jane Seymour and
Tony Dovolani and
Jennie Garth and
Derek Hough. Fortunately for Jennie and Derek, they won over enough of the public to stay in the competition for at least one more week. Sadly for Jane and Tony, they have come to the end of their
Dancing with the Stars journey.
Five couples remain. Who's going home next?
