Before Marg Helgenberger
hit it big as one of the lead stars on CBS' popular and award-winning forensic series, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
, she was like the rest of the grinding working class. The 49-year old actress didn't always hold down a glamorous and high profile job like she does now. In an interview with Access DirecTV
, the Emmy Award-winning Helgenberger narrated how she got through her earlier working years by employing the art of daydreaming.
"I got through it by daydreaming," the CSI
star told Access DirecTV
about how she managed to endure her time as a worker on the production line of a meatpacking plant in Nebraska. "I'd imagine I was somewhere, anywhere but there," Helgenberger said of how she was able to trudge on day after day amid the blood and gore.
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
Helgenberger's early employment may have been literally downright dirty and hurl-inducing, but now, 30 years later, the strawberry blond actress has reaped the rewards of past dues she's paid. Still, despite the success she now enjoys, CSI
's Catherine Willows admits that she still indulges herself in thoughts about just how green the grass is on the other side of the fence.
"I have plenty of dark moments, and I have to watch out for them," she admitted. "My tendency isn't to think of things I've accomplished. Especially as I get older, I'm more inclined to dwell on everything I haven't done. You know, like why don't I have Nicole Kidman's career."
One thing that she doesn't pay too much attention to is the attention and adulation that comes with her current status as a celebrity, opting instead to remain grounded and realistic.
"I've known some very ambitious people who thrive on that kind of attention, but they've rarely been especially happy," she said. "Then again, I don't spend too much of my free time around actors. They can sort of suck all the air out of a room."
