Born on July 22, 1978 on Ontario, Canada, Andrea Joy “AJ” Cook got her first break in a McDonald’s commercial. Inspired by the film
Dirty Dancing, she took up a variety of dance lessons in the field of ballet, tap and jazz, and ultimately pursued acting professionally. She landed a guest role on the television series
Goosebumps, and was included in movies like In
His Father’s Shoes, Elvis Meets Nixon and
The Virgin Suicides. Her other notable credits included
Higher Ground, Final Destination 2, Out Cold and
The Spiral Staircase.
On the television series
Criminal Minds, Cook plays the character of Jennifer “JJ” Jereau who acts as the team’s link with the media and local police agencies. Though intelligent and highly qualified to be a federal agent, she remains firm that she does not want to become a profiler. Her inclusion to the cast makes the plot invigorating and delightful to watch. Given her sunny persona, she certainly is an asset to the popular series.
