Even the much-anticipated midseason finale of Fox hit Glee wasn't able to outsing the perennial ratings juggernaut that is the CBS procedural lineup. Criminal Minds bucked the overall downward trend and registered its largest audience since the premiere, by reeling in some 14.3 million viewers.

The Criminal Minds episode - "The Slave of Duty" - is the show's 101st. It still has one more episode before it takes its holiday hiatus, returning on January 13th.

Glee wasn't even second in the highly competitive 9pm slot; that spot belongs to ABC sitcom Modern Family, which also capped off a great season so far with its own Christmas-themed episode achieving its best demo in 10 weeks.

On the Criminal Minds episode, Agent Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) was on leave to contemplate his future with the BAU, leaving the team to investigate a home invasion case.
