Holiday meals are always filled with tension. That tension is especially high when family drops in unexpectedly. That tension is even higher when the family has long-term issues that come to the surface. Tension tends to go through the roof when the long-term issues come with international espionage and drawn guns.
So it's safe to say that tensions will be high for this week's Chuck, when Mary Bartowski returns for an after-Thanksgiving meal with her family.
After she messed with Chuck's brain (both emotionally and Intersect-wise), blew up her ex-husband's computer basement and disappeared with the evil Volkoff, it's a safe bet that Chuck wasn't expecting to see his mother again any time soon. But holidays always bring home the most estranged of families, and Thanksgiving gives Chuck the chance to host a dinner party for his mother and the wanted arms dealer who may be her boyfriend.
NBC has released a preview video that shows an awful lot of the holiday stress, along with an awful lot of holiday gunplay. Volkoff is also featured, and we can definitely expect some menacing hilarity from that quarter.
The preview does not explain what Mary and Volkoff are doing back in Burbank, nor whether or not Volkoff has figured out the close relationship between his trusted associate and "Charles Carmichael." Also left vague are Mom's ever-shifting allegiances and motivations. Will we find out which side she's really on? Will Chuck get any sort of explanation for his mother's actions? Does the Intersect have any hope for a future after Mom's flashy-treatment a couple of weeks ago?
Guess we'll just have to watch the episode to find out.
What do you think? Are you excited for "Chuck vs. the Leftovers?" Do you think we can expect any answers from Mom Bartowski, or will we have to wait? Let us know your opinions and theories in the comments section!
