'Chuck' Sandwich Posts Record-Low Numbers
'Chuck' Sandwich Posts Record-Low Numbers
Two weeks ago, NBC aired what has become the final two episodes of Chuck's current season, on the same night but with The Celebrity Apprentice sandwiched between the two Chuck installments.  Chuck episode 12 entitled “Chuck Versus the Undercover Lover” aired from 8-9pm while installment 13 called “Chuck Versus the Marlin” got going from 10-11pm.

Unfortunately for the network, the Chuck sandwich managed to draw a paltry 6.7 million viewers, which marked record lows for the show.

In other news, Chuck's co-executive producer, Scott Rosenbaum, has been among the 12,000 or so members of both the East and West chapters of the Writers Guild of America, who have been on strike since early November of last year.  Like many of his colleagues, Rosenbaum hasn't penned anything new for his show since they walked out on November 5.

According to Rosenbaum, at the start of their walkout, he and the other scribes were asked to devote 15 hours a week on the picket line.  These days, he says he stays for about 12 hours.

"As writers, we're the creators of the content," Rosenbaum said.  "What we've had to fight for very hard over the last 60 years is the right to, when something is created, we're able to share in some piece of the profit of it."

There could be some light at the end of this tunnel.  A couple of weeks ago, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers issued a joint statement with the Directors Guild of America about a tentative agreement.

"Our industry's creative talent will now participate financially in every emerging area of new media," the statement posted at www.amptp.org said.  "The agreement demonstrates beyond any doubt that our industry's producers are willing and able to work with the creators of entertainment content to establish fair and flexible rules for this fast-changing marketplace."
