Castle episodes have only just restarted after the mid-winter break, but that doesn't mean that we can't expect lots and lots of news about the show. Fortunately, there's a great deal of it out there. And things are looking good for the best writer/police detective crime-fighting team on television.

First of all, the biggest and best spoiler of them all: Castle has been picked up by ABC for the 2011-2012 season. Thanks to the show's increasing ratings and solid overall performance, we can rest assured that Castle will be back for a fourth season.

Now it's time to leave that happiness for the giddiness that comes whenever a clever Castle plot device appears on the horizon. Vigilant (or overly-obsessed) fans have often noticed clever and/or obscure references on Castle to Nathan Fillion's earlier show, Firefly. An upcoming episode, however, makes a brand-new reference to the star's acting past.

Coming in March, EW.com reports that the show will air an episode entitled "One Life to Lose," in which Castle and Beckett investigate the death of a soap opera star. Can we expect references to Fillion's work on the real soap opera, One Life to Live? Perhaps we will meet a character with a name like Joey Buchanan (a character that Fillion -- and several other actors -- played on the soap)?

Personally, I'm waiting for the Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place-themed episode.

In a final bit of spoiler-y news, there looks to be a recurring character appearing on Castle starting in the last two weeks of February. Adrian Pasdar (most recently known as flying man Nathan Petrelli on Heroes) will play the role of Eric Fallon, an FBI agent sent to work with the detectives.

TVLine reports that the FBI presence will be in response to a vague but frightening terrorist threat against New York City. Pasdar's Fallon arrives to take charge of finding and neutralizing the terrorists. While the nature of the threat -- and what impact Castle and Beckett will have on it remains unknown -- Pasdar will appear on at least two upcoming episodes.
