Hello, all you Castle
fans. Like most of you, I have been a huge fan of the show since day one, and I thought it a tragic shame that no one was writing about it here on BuddyTV.
So it is my privilege to announce that I will now be your Castle
But enough about that. Let's get started on the most recent episode of Castle
, "Nikki Heat."
A high profile matchmaker named Stacy Collins is found dead, so naturally, Castle, Beckett, Ryan and Esposito go to investigate. After finding a mysterious key hidden in Stacy's office that leads to the discovery of $250,000 in a bag belonging to a Tonya Wellington, Beckett and Castle decide something is not right and bring her in for questioning.
Through Tonya, Beckett and Castle learn what Stacy had been up to in the time before her death. Apparently feeling guilty over matching up Tonya with her husband Bill, an arrogant, rude and pretty horrible man, Stacy had hired a man named Duke Jones to photograph Bill having an affair with Duke's assistant, Gretta Morgan.
The whole thing had been a trap in order to get Bill to violate the infidelity clause in his prenuptial agreement with Tonya, and he therefore owed her $100 million as a result. However, Bill was not the only man who was baited by Gretta and ultimately Stacy.
As it turns out, a similar plan was carried out on a man named Scott Donner. Having been photographed cheating, he would have owed his wife $30 million or $40 million after the divorce, so he approached Stacy asking for the pictures. When she refused, he accidentally killed her by pushing her onto a sharply spiked gate. Ouch. Nikki Heat
Joining Castle and Beckett on this week's case and primarily observing Beckett for the purpose of character research for Nikki Heat in the film adaptation of Heat Wave
, movie star Natalie Rhodes (guest start Laura Prepon) arrived on scene and actually proved very useful to the NYPD, even talking Stacy Collins' murderer out of killing himself. I'd say that's a job well done, wouldn't you?
But, what was perhaps most surprising was how dedicated she was to her work ... perhaps too dedicated one might argue. Dying her hair and donning a new wardrobe to adopt Beckett's look and even trying to sleep with Castle all for the purpose of research? Yes, that might have been a little over the top, but, oh, was it so much fun. Gotta feel that heat, right my friends?Ryan Proposes
Yes, as much as I too hoped that Castle was proposing to Beckett for real in the promo, I think we all know that there's a whole lot of show left before we even get close to something like that.
No, in actuality, the ring was for Detective Ryan's girlfriend, Jenny, who he had been planning on proposing to. And although there was a slight hiccup along the way (like Jenny catching Kevin in a lie of not playing darts with Esposito the night before and thinking that he had slept with Natalie), all was well in the end.
Confessing to Jenny that he had been with her parents to ask permission to marry her, Ryan got down on one knee and proposed to Jenny right in front of everyone in the police station. Big and intimate. It certainly got Beckett and Castle's approval ... as well as mine. Congratulations to the happy couple!Agitated Beckett
As much as I love Detective Kate Beckett, I also love seeing her annoyed and irritated, and this week's episode held no shortage of moments like these. What with Natalie perfecting her look and her mannerisms and even stealing her coffee, Beckett was definitely left reeling.
But I would have to say that my favorite moment came when Natalie commented on the nature of the relationship between Castle and Beckett, noting that he is clearly into her but that she's determined not to give into the feelings that she clearly has for him. Don't you just love how whenever people comment on that she never says anything to the contrary?
And as if this weren't enough, Natalie then asks Beckett to give Castle permission to sleep with her in the name of character research. Oh yes, my friends, good times. Next Week's Episode
So, before ending this recap, I figured I would give you all a brief look into next week's episode. Now, aside from the fact that we're going to get to see some really cool magic tricks and things like that, we are also going to see guest star Gilles Marini. Basically all it took was that little piece of information for me to get excited, but can you really blame me?
Also, I wanted to let you all know that the epic episode of Castle
entitled "Knockdown," which delves deeper into the murder of Beckett's mother and features a huge step forward in the Castle and Beckett relationship has now been pushed back until Jan. 24. Saying I'm disappointed doesn't even begin to cover it, but I guess it will definitely be worth the wait.
Until then, comment away, my friends. What did you think of this week's episode? Do you think Natalie Rhodes makes a good Nikki Heat? Did you like Ryan's proposal? Sound away!
