Fans haven't seen the last of Michael Westen. Although the finale of
Burn Notice already aired last Thursday, USA Network has decided to pick up another season of the action drama spy series which will be released in the summer of 2008.
Created by Matt Nix,
Burn Notice stars
Jeffrey Donovan as Michael Westen, an international spy who suddenly gets blacklisted. Along with his friends, Fiona Glenanne (
Gabrielle Anwar), an ex-IRA operative and Sam Axe (
Bruce Campbell), a semi-retired spy, he freelances his skills to earn money in an effort to find out who burned him and why.

Great show - can't wait for the second season - or reruns for that matter.
The news comes with little surprise considering it has blazed new trails for the network on Thursday nights, winning its timeslot among basic cable networks every week since its premiere on June 28. Ratings for
Burn Notice, which debuted to strong numbers of 3.985 million, have positively grown, especially with last week's season ender.
Donovan, who spearheads the series, reveals that he would like to see his character in the future exploring different parts of the world while getting even better in the field of espionage.
“I like to see him travel a lot more. Right now, he's stuck in Miami, which is great and I love it here. But if we're talking about two or three more seasons down the road I'd like him to be able to go back into the world of….international espionage and I think that [would] be kind of a unique job to have to b able to visit Japan or China or Korea… [If] they could fly me there then it would certainly make it look like we're there. And I just think battling all those cultural differences gives me the ability to find a lot of humor and the more I can bring fun into the show the happier I'm gonna be and also the viewers are gonna find it just more enjoyable to watch,” he said.
