If there was ever a member of the Bones team that one might call "nice," it would be Dr. Lance Sweets. The guy is all about his touchy-feely profession and rarely seems inclined to lift a finger against anyone.

But is Sweets really all that sweet? A new video, showing footage from this week's Bones, seems to indicate otherwise.

The video, which shows scenes from "The Prince in Plastic," gives us a view of Sweets that is significantly more badass than what we are used to. Check out the video below:

There's actually something kind of fun about this version of Sweets. Here are some of the highlights from the footage and the interviews:

  • "Lancelot is the kindest, most decent man I've ever known. Why shouldn't he carry a piece?" Ah Daisy... She may be annoying, but the girl can deliver a nonsensical line like no one else.
  • Of course Booth is the certification instructor. How could he not be?
  • Can Sweets call himself "Agent" like that? Aren't there laws or something?
  • Is it that easy to shot a bullet that ricochets back at you? If that's the case, then perhaps shooting ranges are much more dangerous places than I thought.

What are Sweets' motivations in getting himself certified for weaponry? It is most likely that the direct reason is Dr. Sweets' increased participation in Booth's investigations. With Brennan pregnant, Bones has made it clear that Sweets is the semi-substitute in certain situations. The good shrink probably just thought the whole gun thing was practical.

There are, of course, other possibilities. Considering Sweets' reaction last season to the Grave Digger shooting, one might expect a bit of lingering anger and aggression to come into play. If that's the case, then Sweets-with-a-gun might be even more interesting than we thought.

"The Prince in Plastic" will air on Thursday, November 17 at 9pm on FOX.
