When The CW officially picked up Black Lighting, there were speculations on whether the latest superhero series will be crossing over with other DC adaptations including Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow. However, it was revealed during the network upfront presentations that Black Lightning will not be part of the Arrowverse.

"We do not aim to do a five-way crossover," CW chief Mark Pedowitz said. "Black Lightning, at this time, is not part of the Arrowverse. It is a separate situation. But there will be a big fourth quarter crossover with all four of the shows that are on in the fall."

Unlike the other DC shows, which film in Vancouver, Black Lightning will be filming in Atlanta, which would probably make it hard logistically to do a crossover.

Still, that doesn't mean that an epic five-way crossover between all the superhero shows will never happen. Pedowitz did use the phrase "at this time" so there's still a possibility that Black Lightning might enter the Arrowverse in the future.

Black Lightning stars Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce, also known as Black Lightning. According to the press release, he is "the father of two daughters and principal of a charter high school that also serves as a safe haven for young people in a New Orleans neighborhood overrun by gang violence." Pierce left his crime-fighting days behind and chose to be with family, which consists of daughters Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Anne McClain), as well as ex-wife Lynn (Christine Adams). However, he is forced to bring back the masked vigilante when those he cares about get in the crosshairs of the menacing local gang The One Hundred.

Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow will premiere on the CW this fall. Black Lightning will debut midseason.
