American actress Maura West was born on April 27, 1972 in Springfield, Massachusetts. An alumna of Boston University’s School of Fine Arts, she is known for her portrayal of Carly Snyder in the daytime soap As the World Turns. She originated the role in 1995, and she won a Daytime Emmy for Best Drama Actress in 2007.

Her character, Carly Snyder, is the half-sister of Gwen Norbeck (Jennifer Landon) and Rosanna Cabot (Cady McClain). She is one half of one of the show’s most popular supercouples; she was paired up with Jack Snyder (Michael Park). The two characters initially couldn’t stand each other, but they later realize their feelings for each other after working together.

West is married to former As the World Turns co-star Scott DeFreitas in 2000; they have three children, and another child from West’s previous marriage.
