All is well in the Arrowverse, at least as far as Cupid is concerned. Or is it?
Olicity is an item once more, Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) is receiving matchbox roses from her vigilante meta and Diggle (David Ramsey) and Lyla (Audrey Marie Anderson) are...wait, where is the Director of ARGUS?
MIA since the end of season 5, Lyla dropped off the board following the couple's (barely) resolved debate over the big "T" word -- trust. In Thursday's episode, as per TVLine
, fans will have a chance to dive back into that slice of domesticity. According to Ramsey, it won't be all sunshine, roses and toddler giggles.
"We're going to play with that all through season 6. That's big. That's a big, big, big arc," Ramsey told BuddyTV over the summer. "[When you belong] to this vigilante team, Team Arrow, whatever, and being married to the leader of ARGUS, that's easily a six-episode arc right there, isn't it? I mean, she has her finger on the pulse of the Suicide Squad, and that's just good storytelling. So we're going to play with that a lot more."
If you throw in Diggle's recent promotion, his back alley drug use and his careful web of lies, then you'll have an even bigger problem than we started with. Lyla surely knows John is rocking a new crossbow and, considering the dangers of her own job, it would be hypocritical if the pair fretted over the looming specter of death that comes with their day at the office. Instead, it might be Dig's medical issues that work to reignite their season 5 strife. Luckily, these two have known each other through thick and thin (including that time Spartan had to off his own brother.)
"This couple has been married once, divorced, married again, so this is a mature couple that's been through it before," Ramsey explained. "There was a great scene last year where they had a conversation on the couch and kind of reached this stalemate and came up against the 800-pound gorilla in the room and actually mentioned it, saying, 'this has been our Achilles' heel.' So we're going to play with that relationship a lot this season."
Their next scene will play against the backdrop of the anti-vigilante bill and Oliver's (Stephen Amell) woes with Deathstroke (Manu Bennett) during "Promises Kept."
Do you think marital concern will bring Diggle's problems out into the open? Will Lyla have a secret of her own? Sound off in the comments!
